Application: identification of domestic animals or breeding birds
Characteristics:
Description:
Microchips are small transponders injected under the animal’s skin, usually between the shoulder blades, which eliminates the possibility of migration. They typically contain a cipher code assigned to the database. It means that after the chip is implanted, one must also register the animal in a proper database. Only then is it possible to fully identify the specimen and obtain information, e.g. on its owner. Domestic animal identification prevents illegal trade, breeding, smuggling or theft; it reduces the problem of homelessness and abandonment of unwanted dogs and cats. For owners, it is a way of facilitating quick identification in case the animal is lost.
